1975 MERCURY MONTEGO Recall Notes: FORD CAMPAIGN NO 154.EQUIPPED WITH 460 CID ENGINE AND 4350-4V CARBURETOR.POSSIBILITY THAT THE CARBURETOR WAS BUILT WITH SECONDARY THROTTLE STOP LEVERTHAT WAS STAMPED WITH AN ADVERSE STEP OR DISCONTINOUS SURFACE ON THE UPPERPERIPHERY OF THE LEVER.THIS SURFACE IRREGULARITY COULD IMPEDE THE SECONDARYLOCKOUT LEVER FROM RIDING DOWN THE UPPER CAM-LIKE SURFACE OF THE SECONDARYTHROTTLE STOP LEVER.SHOULD THE LOCKOUT LEVER CATCH ON THE ADVERSE STEP OF THESECONDARY STOP LEVER AND RESULT IN THE SECONDARY THROTTLE PLATE BEING HELD OPENWHICH COULD RESULT IN VEHICLE ACCELERATING TO AN EXCESSIVE SPEED.(CORRECT BYINSPECTING AND INSTALLING A NEWLY DESIGNED SECONDARY THROTTLE LOCKOUT LEVERWHERE NECESSARY).
